12일(현지시간) 빌보드가 홈페이지에 게재한 18일자 차트 예고 기사에 따르면, 정국이 지난 3일 발매한 '골든'은 21만200장 상당의 판매량으로 '빌보드 200'에 2위로 데뷔했다.
'빌보드 200' 순위는 전통적인 음반 판매량 점수에 스트리밍 횟수를 음반 판매량으로 환산한 SEA(streaming equivalent albums), 디지털음원 다운로드 횟수를 음반 판매량으로 환산한 TEA(track equivalent albums)를 합산해 매긴다. '골든'의 물리적 음반 판매량은 16만4800장으로 이번 주에 가장 많이 팔린 물리적 음반이기도 하다. SEA 유닛은 2만9800장, TEA 유닛은 1만5600장이다.
방탄소년단 팀으로서 '빌보드 200' 1위를 여섯 차례 차지한 정국이 솔로로서 해당 차트 톱2에 들어온 건 이번이 처음이다.
K팝 솔로 '빌보드 200' 상위 톱6는 모두 방탄소년단 멤버들이 점유하고 있다. 뷔·지민·슈가·정국 외에 RM(김남준) '인디고'가 3위, 제이홉 '잭 인 더 박스'가 6위를 기록했다. 특히 솔로로 여섯 멤버가 '빌보드 200' 톱10에 드는 기염을 토했다. 일곱 멤버 중 나머지 한명인 진은 군 복무 중으로, 그는 솔로 싱글만 냈을 뿐 솔로 앨범은 아직 내지 않았다.
특히 정국은 발매 첫 주 미국에서 K팝 솔로 가수 최고 판매량을 기록하는 기염토했다. 현지에서 발매 첫주에 20만장 이상의 판매량을 기록한 K팝 솔로 가수는 정국이 처음이다.
이런 호성적에도 미국 팝 슈퍼스타 테일러 스위프트의 앨범 '1989(테일러스 버전(Taylor's Version))'('빌보드 200' 2주 연속 1위)에 밀려 2위를 차지했다. '1989(테일러스 버전)'은 이번 주에 24만5000장상당의 판매량을 기록했다.
스위프트 같은 거물급이 아니었으면 충분히 1위를 차지하고 남았을 점수다. 대진운이 좋지 않았던 것이다. '빌보드 200' 1위라는 상징성을 확보하지 못하게 되는 건 아쉽지만, 충분히 가능성을 확인할 수 있는 판매량인 셈이다.

아울러 정국은 이르면 13일(현지시간) 공개되는 이번 주 빌보드 싱글차트 '핫100'에선 K팝 솔로 가수 최다곡 진입 기록도 쓰게 될 것으로 보인다. '골든'의 타이틀곡 '스탠딩 넥스트 투 유(Standing Next to You)'는 톱10 진입이 유력하다. '스탠딩 넥스트 투 유'가 '핫100'에 진입하면 그는 솔로로서 통산 여섯 곡을 이 차트에 올리게 된다.
앞서 정국은 지난 7월 공개한 첫 공식 솔로 싱글 '세븐(Seven)(feat. Latto)'(1위), 지난달 발매한 두 번째 솔로 싱글 '3D(feat. Jack Harlow)'(5위)로 두 곡 연속 톱5에 들었다. 호주 래퍼 더 키드 라로이(The Kid LAROI)·영국 래퍼 센트럴 시(Central Cee)와 협업한 '투 머치(TOO MUCH)'(44위)도 '핫100'에 들었다.
