12일 방송된 SBS TV 금토드라마 '낭만닥터 김사부3' 5회에서는 돌담 권역외상센터 시범 개소 첫날부터 의료 사고가 발생하며 긴장감이 치솟았다.
이날 돌담즈는 외상센터로 차출된 선배 팀과 돌담병원 응급실에 남은 후배 팀으로 나뉘었다. 김사부(한석규 분)는 이제 막 들어온 CS펠로우 이선웅(이홍내 분)과 아직 퍼스트도 몇 번 못 잡아본 GS전공의 장동화(이신영 분) 만으로 응급실을 커버해야 했다. 더욱이 환자들이 몰려드는 돌담병원의 금요일은 전쟁터였다. 이에 서우진(안효섭 분)은 홀로 남은 김사부가 걱정돼 외상센터를 거부하고 응급실로 되돌아갔다.
김사부의 뜻은 달랐다. 돌담즈를 외상센터에 보낸 것도 김사부의 큰 계획 안에 있었다. 김사부는 고집을 피우는 서우진을 외상센터로 보내기 위해 "플랜 B로 가자"며 돌담즈와 작전을 짰다. 바로 양호준(고상호 분)을 키맨으로 이용하는 것. 박은탁(김민재 분)은 서우진에게 양호준이 차진만(이경영 분)과 컴바인 수술 집도를 맡는다고 알렸다. 박민국(김주헌 분)도 미팅을 간 상황에서 외상센터에 있는 GS는 양호준 뿐. 양호준의 실력 부재를 알고 있는 서우진은 걱정이 됐고, 결국 멘붕이 온 양호준의 콜을 받고 외상센터 수술실로 갔다.
이런 가운데 연쇄 추돌 교통사고로 온 환자들 중 소년 한 명이 심정지가 온 것. 소년은 부상이 심각한 다른 사람들에 비해 별다른 통증이 없어 관찰실로 옮겨진 환자였다. 몰려드는 환자들을 정신없이 받느라 정인수는 관찰실 소년의 상태를 봐야한다는 것을 까맣게 잊었고, 뒤늦게 차은재(이성경 분)가 심폐소생술을 했지만 소생 불가였다. 그리고 이 소년의 엄마가 외상센터 예산을 담당하는 도의원이란 것이 밝혀지며 충격을 안겼다.
도의원은 아들을 죽게 만든 의사의 의료 사고 책임을 물었다. 이때 차진만이 나서 "방치가 아니라 우선 순위에서 밀린 겁니다. 응급에서는 들어온 순서가 아니라 위급한 순서가 먼저라서요"라고 원칙을 말하면서, 더 위급했던 비서들의 상태는 묻지 않은 점, 공무 시간에 아들을 수행하다가 사고가 난 점 등을 질책했다. 그러면서 정인수와 의료진을 격려하며 센터장의 역할을 다했다.
이에 도의원은 김사부에게 "전면전은 각오하셔야 할 겁니다"라며 경고하며 외상센터에 위기의 그림자를 드리웠다. 정인수는 "제가 그 환자 놓친 거예요. 그래서 죽은 거예요. 제 잘못이 맞아요. 사부님 제가 다 책임지겠습니다"라며 자책감에 눈물을 뚝뚝 흘렸다. 그런 정인수를 걱정스레 바라보는 김사부의 모습이 엔딩을 장식했다.
김사부의 돌담 팀을 욕심내기 시작한 차진만의 심경 변화와, 외상센터의 예산을 맡은 도의원의 전면전 선포가 앞으로 전개에 어떤 영향을 미칠지 궁금증을 증폭시켰다.
